LITERATURE :  NOVEL - WE DIDN’T MEAN TO GO SEA BY ARTHUR RANSOME

POSSIBLE PT3 QUESTIONS : Why do you enjoy reading the novel?/Why would you  recommend this novel to your friend?/What makes the novel interesting?/Why is this novel enjoyable to read?/

Introduction Paragraph [PARA 1]
 * Choose the Novel    :  The novel  I studied  is We Didn’t Mean To Go To Sea by Arthur                                               Ransome.
* Answer the question:   I  enjoy reading this novel  because it has many interesting                   elements  such      as  admirable characters,  good moral values           and  exciting events.
.
Textual Evidence 1 [EV1] [PARA 2]

- Firstly, I admire one of the main  character in this novel. He is John Walker, the eldest  of the Walker siblings
-  I admire John Walker because he is   very knowledgeable and capable.
- For example, in this novel  John uses  his knowledge about sailing that he learns from his father  to steer the Goblin when they drift out to sea. Despite the lack of experience, John is able to sail  the Goblin in the fog, in heavy rain and strong wind. John handles the Goblin well by making  the sail smaller during the terrible storm at sea .
-These positive qualities are admirable and a good example for children.

Textual Evidence 2 [EV2] [PARA 3]

- Besides, I also enjoy reading this novel because it contains good values.
- One of the important values that I learnt from this novel is we must be brave to face          challenges at all times.  –This value was portrayed by John and his siblings when they     were on the Goblin. Although John feels tired, he tries his hardest to steer the Goblin against the storm to save his siblings.  Meanwhile,  Susan and Titty did not make too much fuss when they were seasick.
Thus, we must be brave to cope with unexpected situations and challenges in our life.

Textual Evidence 3[EV3] [PARA 4]

- Moreover, I enjoy the most exciting event  in the novel when the children are caught in the    storm.
- On the stormy night the wind and waves throw the Goblin violently on the sea. Water fills   the cockpit and cabin. John almost fell into the sea when he made the sail smaller.
This highlighted event is exciting as well as frightening because  John and his    siblings are young and inexperienced. This event  also shows we must not give up    easily and learn to believe in ourselves.

Conclusion [Sum up & give your opinion] [PARA 5]

- These are the reasons why I enjoy reading the novel
- I really enjoyed reading this novel because it gives the  reader encouraging  messages         that one can apply in  daily life.
-  This novel is very suitable for youngsters who like adventurous   stories
